Episode 198 ~ At your side 🧵 Virtually! Create a Thread Catcher & Pin Cushion with Jerry Granata
Supply List & Instructions for Thread Catcher
• Brother Stellaire XP2 or comparable machine to embroider and sew, or both
• Feet you will need: – Embroidery foot, J foot, Zipper foot
• 4 different fabrics – one for the pin cushion, one for the hinge, one for the inner bag and
one for the outer bag
• 1 – 18” piece of boning, or plastic shipping strap from a box. You could also use a one liter soda bottle cut to ½”x 18”
• Pacesetter tear-away stabilizer cut to 7”x 9”
• 1 ½ cups of crushed walnut
• 1 piece of 8 ½”x 11” paper…printer paper is fine
• Tape for paper
• Embroidery thread (your choice of color)
• Bobbin thread (white)
• Sewing thread (wind a bobbin with the same sewing thread). The color is your choice
• Embroidery needle size 75/11
• Scissors to trim threads
• Rotary cutter, ruler, and mat
• Heat-erasable pen
• Pins
• Iron, Ironing board

Instructions:
1) Cut the fabric as follows:
- One piece 7”x 8” for pin cushion
- One piece 4 ½”x 8” for hinge
- One piece 9”x 16” for bag lining
- One piece 10” x 17” for outer bag (you will embroidery this piece first then cut it down to 9”x16” at a later time. If you choose not to embroider, cut a piece of fabric 9”x16” for the
outer bag.
