This SUPER easy to sew knit top, the Delila Knit Patternlaunched a few years ago and is still a staple in my wardrobe. I designed the Delila pattern based on a simple kimono style that tapers in the high hip area. You know me, I can’t stop at a simple top, so I added not one, but NINE sleeve version!
Recognize the blue short sleeve version with the slits I am wearing ~ I have worn it at EVERY event LOL! This version is sewn out of an ITY knit, this fabric doesn’t wrinkle meaning it rolls out of my suitcase like this. Even though the fabric is polyester, the slits in the sleeve allow airflow.
Here is a rundown of all the sleeve variations:
Basic long sleeve
Basic 3/4 sleeve
Basic short sleeve
Long sleeve with cuffs
Long sleeves with outside trim and cuffs
Long sleeve with slits and cuffs
Three-quarter length sleeve
Three-quarter length sleeve with outside trim
Three-quarter length sleeve with slits
The Delila Knit Top #AW1531
Available in Misses Sizes 0 – 18 and Plus Sizes 16W – 36W

Another easy pattern to sew with a neckline twist! I designed the Bella Knit Topsewing pattern to be sewn with knits for comfort and coordinate with A Touch of Couture Lace Embroidery Collection, Regardless if you add embroidery, this knit top is trendy and easy to sew! slightly fitted in the bust area and looser in the waist and hip area with a flattering curved hemline. Different than my other knit top patterns, this one has a v-neckline with facing instead of a ribbed collar band.
Although there are two sleeve options, I named the pattern after the bell-like sleeve which is fitted in the bicep area and then bells out in the wrist area, hemmed with an elastic casing.
I have sewn this version with rayon jersey knit for the body and mesh for the sleeve. The short sleeve version offers a loose, flowing sleeve and a chiffon fabric is a great choice. I am just finishing a few more Bella Knit Tops and will share photos next week with a few tutorials on sewing and embroidering this trendy top.
Knit Fabric with at least 3% lycra / spandex: Jersey Knit, Rayon Knit, Crepe Knit, Bamboo Knit, Pont Knit, Stretch Velvet
Additional Fabric Options for Long Sleeve: Mesh, Tulle, Stretch Silk Chiffon,
Additional Fabric Options for Short Sleeve: Silk Chiffon, Poly Chiffon

The design for the Lacy Knit Top was a result of our everlasting Covid lockdown! Whether lounging at home, working in the studio, or working out in our home gym ~ this top hit the mark. Semi-fitted in the bust area, looser thru the hips, and a little longer in the center front and back. My favorite versions of this top are sewn with a rayon knit and fashionable lace and the 2nd sewn with athleisure sportswear and mesh fabric. (You might notice that I am wearing the Shirley Wrap as a dress)
This comfortable, stylish knit top is easy to sew and perfect for beginners! Here are the details:

I designed this pattern as one of the wrap style dresses and tops for season 19 of It’s Sew Easy tv. The Shirley wrap can be sewn as a top or a dress. Because the style must pullover the head, this top must be sewn with a knit.
There are many versions in this pattern including sleeveless, short sleeve, and long sleeve. Then you have the option of sewing a top or dress.
This top is easy to sew and perfect for beginners! Here are the details:

Pant Sloper Fitting Online Course Learn to fit your own pant sloper! Then take that sloper and turn it into a pattern. This class will be taught in a virtual & online setting; offering 5 live lessons with additional videos for specific fitting issues. You will...
2. WICK AWAY: If you plan on working out, look for moisture wicking fabric. Wickaway moves sweat to the outside of the fabric and quickly dries, so your sweat doesn’t soak the fabric.
3. FITTING: Athletic wear is usually fitted, especially leggings. Check the exact measurements on the pattern and compare to your exact measurements. You will want to have the outfit at least 1″ smaller than your size (more than 1″ depending on your size too). This is what we call negative ease.
4. NEEDLES: Use a stretch in the sewing machine, serger, and coverstitch.
5. THREAD: I useWooly Poly or Wooly Nylon in the upper and lower loopers on the serger.
6. SERGER STITCH: A 4-thread overlock stitch is stronger than a 3-thread overlock stitch. I use the 4-thread for leggings, fitted workout tops, and sport bras. I use the 3-thread overlock stitch for loose fitting knits and items that won’t have a lot of stress.
7. SEWING: If you don’t have a serger, you an use stretch thread in the sewing machine. Wind the bobbin slowly and use the stretch thread for both the upper thread and bobbin with a straight stitch. Another option is using universal thread and a narrow zigzag stitch.
8. ELASTIC: I use sport and braided elastic in the waistband of my leggings. 1/2″ wide when I am sewing yoga style leggings with a wide waistband. 1″ or 1-1/4″ when sewing more of a leggings style.
9. HEMMING: performance fabric can be slippery and tricky to sew. I steam press the hem and use a tailors clapper to create a creased fold. Then when I run the fabric through the coverstitch machine or sewing machine using a twin needle, the fabric lays nice and flat.
10. ADD A TOUCH OF MESH: Use a coordinating mesh fabric to leggings as an accent to hold your cell phone or inserted into a tank for a trendy style.
