Learn How to Use the Coverstitch Machine

Do you find yourself sewing a lot of knits? If so, you will eventually want to add a coverstitch machine to your sewing room. Hemming knits has never been easier!

But the Coverstitch is not just for knits, you can also do a chainstitch which is great for finishing seams and decorative stitching.

Join my next online / virtual class in the serger sequel Serger/Coverstitch 103 ~ Learn to Use Your Coverstitch Machine! Although we are focusing on serging in these classes, many sergers include a coverstitch combo, so I wanted one class to focus on just coverstitching.

Learn how to set up:

Narrow and Wide Coverstitch
3-thread Coverstitch
Chainstitch

Next, you will learn how to hem knits, finishing hemming in the round and tying off your stitches. Tips for decorating seams and fabric with the coverstitch. Learn a quick and easy way to pull out your stitches and take extra care preventing them from chaining off.

BONUS: There will be an extra tutorial for using the double coverstitch (not available on every machine).

Learn how to set up and serge:

Pintuck
Rolled Hem
Flatlock Stitching
Blind Hem Stitch

Learn tips for starting and ending rolled hem stitches and then practice these stitches by making an infinity scarf. Learn how to hem with a blind hem, a technique that cuts and finishes your hem in once step. Connect seams and fabric with a flatlock stitching and decorating fabrics with narrow pintucks.

Note: This class can be used with any serger, but you will need your serger manual on hand as each serger is a little different.

SERGER 101: Learn the Basics!

Beginners guide to using your serger!

Join Angela Wolf for a 90 minute virtual class and learn how to set up and use your serger. Learn the parts on the serger, tips for rethreading, differential feed, reasons to adjust the stitch length and width, and so much more!

Learn how to set up and when to use:

4-thread overlock
3-thread overlock
3-thread wide vs. narrow overlock
Gathering

Learn tips for starting and ending stitches, how to serger corners, inside corners, and curves. Trouble shoot tension issues and puckered fabric. Learn how to adjust the differential feed to prevent stretching the fabric. You will also learn serger basics including choosing and changing needles, using stretch threads, disengaging the knife, and more.

Learn How to Thread Your Serger!

How to Set Up and Thread a Serger

Some of the most common questions I get revolve around the serger. A serger, also called an overlock machine, is typically used to trim and finish the raw edges on fabric, yet the serger can do SO much more! While the Brother Brand Ambassadors are taking over the Brother Facebook and YouTube channels I am going to add a series of tutorials on the serger and coverstitch machine. To get started, I will explain the dials, tension settiings, and show how to thread the serger.
