Sewing with CraftOptics is a Great Solution for the Eyes!

Have you see the WOW package from CraftOptics?

I met Jeff Caplan from CraftOptics a few years ago in Puyallup, his booth was around the corner from Kai Scissors.   I was intrigued by the glasses and loved hearing the comments that people would say after trying them on.  It wasn’t until last year at Houston Quilt Fest that I had a chance to try these fabulous glasses myself.  Here is a recent interview with Jeff and an explanation how these glasses work.

Would you like to win the WOW package?

If you would like to win a set of glasses included in the WOW package from CraftOptics click here for the official entry form.  I have also included the entry form below for your convenience.

You can gain extra entries by leaving a comment below and sharing the contest with others on Facebook (stay tuned for pop-up extra entry opportunities).  Be sure to to stop by and thanks Jeff and Lynn at CraftOptics Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube Channels.

The contest ends Wednesday, May 4th when we draw 1 lucky winner!  In the meantime, enjoy a fabulous anniversary sale!  You can get $100 off the WOW packages during the month of April 2022 with coupon code: 13YEARS100  ~ Fashion Sewing Club Members check your email and the website for a bigger discount.

NEW Skini-Mini Angela Wolf Martelli Ruler Kits

NEW Skini-Mini Angela Wolf Martelli Ruler Kits

New Angela Wolf & Martelli Ruler Sets

I am so excited to announce my new ruler set designed by Martelli.  In case you are new to Martelli, they are a family owned business located in Florida.  I have been testing some of their products the last few months and I am so excited to share!!! First off, their cutting system is amazing!  I absolutely LOVE their templates and I had to have my own. Regardless if I am sewing knits, bias trim, jean belt loops, bias binding ~ I choose my 5 top widths that I am always cutting and packaged them into the new Angela Wolf Mini-Ruler Extension Kit

Sticking to the project

Now, why would I use these templates and not a standard quilters ruler?  Of course, I will end up using both, but these templates have a rubber base.  The template holds the fabric in place and makes it easy to cut with your rotary cutter. Catch my Behind the Scenes show showing how I cut my neckline for the Shirley Wrap Top.

Pre-Order Today

The new rulers are in production as we speak.  If you would like to reserve the first batch off the cutting table be sure to pre-order today.  The rulers are made in the USA and will shipped from my studio as soon as they are hot off the press!

Pre-Order today and get 15% OFF with coupon code: SNOW15

Leave a Comment for a Chance to Win a My First Set of Rulers

If you would like to win a set of rulers click here to officially enter and  get an extra entry if you leave a comment below to let me know what you will cut with your new rulers.  You can also leave a comment on Facebook and Instagram for extra chances to win.  I will draw 1 random winner on Behind the Scenes live Facebook and YouTube show Wednesday, February 23rd at 1:30pm Eastern /10:30am Pacific.  Good luck!

If you have already sewn up the Shirley top or dress be sure to share photos and I will feature you on the show.

Quick & Easy Christmas & Holiday Decor

Quick Table Runner Instructions

Fabric Requirements:

a. Center fabric: Sew together seven of the quilted blocks
made in the 7 7/8 x 14 in hoop. Five of the blocks will have
the applique design and the two ends will be background fill
only. Stitch the blocks together with a ¼ seam allowance so
that you have 1 long piece approximately 54 in long x 14 in

(Alternatively you can cut 1 at 12.5 in X 54 in and embellish
later with HTV, etc.)
b. Border/Back fabric: Cut 1 at 24 in x 54 in

Construction:

a. Sew the center fabric to the border/back fabric on both
sides, right sides together to make a long tube. Trim the
ends so that everything is the same length.
b. Turn right sides out and press, keeping the border sections
evenly matched on both sides of the center panel.
c. Fold fabric tube in half, right sides together and stitch
together on each end.
d. Turn corners out to reveal a finished triangle shape at each
end.
e. If not using quilt blocks for the center panel, embellish as
desired.

I thought a fun way to celebrate is to do a giveaway every week for the next month.  YEAH! Can you guess what has been the most viewed video?

The most viewed video on my YouTube channel is from an episode of It’s Sew Easy tv.  A draping tutorial of all things!  I originally designed the pink gown by draping and entered this into a contest for ASDP.  The gown has over 10 yards of silk fabric and lot’s of hand beading and hand stitching.  The gown made it to the finals and I wore it down the runway.

In this video I showed the process of draping a similar gown.  Looks like it was a bit hit as there are currently 666,116 views with over 12,000 likes!  Thanks Wolfpack!!

Designing Mug Rugs in My Design Center-Quick and Easy

Supplies needed:

      • Threads of your choice
      • 5×7” Frame (or whatever you want)
      • Tear away stabilizer
      • Top fabric (size needed to have enough to cut a little excess around the outer edges)
      • Batting (again to fit)
      • 2 Back pieces (enough to fold each piece in half – wrong sides together- and have 1” overlap in the middle of the back at the folds).

To create your design Using My Design Center:

      1. Pick shape wanted (or draw it or Scan it in)
      2. Size to slightly bigger (.5) then you want the finished Mug Rug (assign single run stitch to it for placement)
      3. Save to memory in MCD
      4. All clear
      5. If piecing, draw lines for “seams” * Make sure no lines intersect!
      6. Save to memory as the 2nd step
      7. All clear
      8. Bring in Scanned saying (or add it in embroidery)
      9. Add shape around wording or design if desired
      10. Save to memory
      11. Add quilting where desired (using established shapes)
      12. Save to memory as a separate step
      13. Make another identical shape (as the original) only assign triple stitch to it and make it slightly smaller than the placement stitch
      14. Save in memory as a separate step

Bring each step over to Embroidery and save in Memory

Build your Final Design for the Mug Rug in the Embroidery side.

Bring in:

  1. Placement Stitch
  2. ADD
  3. Piecing seams (if there are any) From Pocket
  4. ADD
  5. Wording and or Quilting from the pocket (if there is either)
  6. Final stitch is the outside shape in triple stitch and slightly smaller than the placement stitch.

You have created your complete design!!!

Instructions to stitch out:

  1. Hoop Tearaway stabilizer
  2. Stitch the placement stitch
  3. Lay the batting down (cover the placement line)
  4. Lay center piece right side up over the batting
  5. If Piecing: Lay the different sections of piecing right side down. Make sure the edge to be the seam will be under the stitch and that you have enough fabric to fold over after the seam is stitched to cover the area needed.
  6. Do all the piecing one piece at a time
  7. Stitch the saying or embroidery and the quilting
  8. Back: Fold both pieces in half with wrong sides together and finger press or press

Lay the 2 back pieces on top of the hoop with the folds overlapping in the middle about an inch

  1. Stitch the final stitch (triple stitch of the total outside shape.
  2. Trim around all edges to ¼” and pay special attention to trimming the corners.
  3. Turn right side out through the folds in the back.
  4. Poke edges and corners
  5. Press
